ROG Xbox Ally Handhelds Get October Release Date as Gamescom Demos Begin
The ROG Xbox Ally release date is finally confirmed. ASUS announced that the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X will launch worldwide on October 16, 2025. The reveal coincides with Gamescom 2025, where visitors can try out the handheld consoles before release.
The original ROG Ally arrived in June 2023, giving gamers a Windows-powered handheld alternative. The upgraded Ally X followed in mid-2024, adding more RAM, larger storage, and a stronger battery. During the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase, ASUS unveiled Xbox-themed editions of both handhelds.
Leaks and Confirmed Details
The release date was leaked earlier this month by insider Billbil-kun. However, that leak also suggested pre-orders would start on August 20. ASUS has now confirmed this was incorrect. Pre-order details will be shared in the coming weeks.

The ROG Xbox Ally lineup will be available across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Previous leaks suggest European pricing could be €599 for the Ally and €899 for the Ally X. U.S. pricing may mirror those numbers, but ASUS has not confirmed final details.
Gamescom Hands-On Demos
Both handhelds are playable at the ASUS Republic of Gamers booth at Gamescom 2025. Visitors can test games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, Hogwarts Legacy, Doom: The Dark Ages, Balatro, and Lies of P. Roblox experiences such as Grow a Garden, Rivals, and 99 Nights in the Forest are also available.
Marketing Push with GTA 5 Actors
ASUS is also promoting the ROG Xbox Ally lineup with a new campaign. The brand has reunited GTA 5 actors Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno. Luke plays a ROG Travel supervisor, while Fonteno appears as a new recruit. Both actors will also meet fans at the Gamescom booth.
