Keanu Reeves Would ‘Love’ to Return for Cyberpunk 2
Hollywood star Keanu Reeves has confirmed he would “absolutely” return as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2. The actor first joined the gaming world in Cyberpunk 2077 back in 2020, where his performance became a defining part of the game’s identity.
From Rocky Launch to Redemption
When Cyberpunk 2077 launched, it faced widespread criticism due to performance issues, especially on PS4. The launch was so rough that Sony temporarily pulled the game from the PlayStation Store. CD Projekt Red, however, worked tirelessly on fixes and expansions, turning the RPG into one of its most celebrated titles today.
Keanu Reeves on Playing Johnny Silverhand Again
In a recent interview with IGN, Reeves shared his enthusiasm for reprising the role. “Absolutely. I’d love to play Johnny Silverhand again,” he said when asked about his potential return. This statement sparked excitement among fans, though no official confirmation has been given yet.
Cyberpunk 2 Development and Timeline
Currently, CD Projekt Red is focused on The Witcher 4, with over 400 developers working on that project. Around 116 team members are working on Cyberpunk 2. Based on the current timelines, The Witcher 4 could arrive around 2026 or 2027, making a 2030 release for Cyberpunk 2 more realistic.
What We Know About Cyberpunk 2
Details about the sequel remain scarce, but one major change has surfaced. The game will not be set in Night City. Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG, hinted earlier this year that players will explore a brand-new city in the sequel. Although Pondsmith is less directly involved this time, he still checks in with CD Projekt Red to see the project’s progress.
Looking Ahead
While fans wait for official news, Reeves’ willingness to reprise Johnny Silverhand adds more hype to the sequel. With a long development cycle ahead, Cyberpunk 2 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated RPGs of the next decade.
