Elden Ring Nightreign Adding New Feature to Deep of Night Mode
FromSoftware has confirmed that Elden Ring Nightreign Deep of Night mode will soon receive new updates. These changes aim to make the feature more accessible, while also fixing bugs and improving overall gameplay.
Deep of Night Mode Gets Accessibility Update
Soulslike games are well-known for their punishing difficulty. Still, FromSoftware has continued raising the bar with new challenges. Elden RIng Nightreign, The Deep of Night mode, introduced on September 11, increases the difficulty by randomizing terrain, boss encounters, and progression scaling. However, the upcoming patch will add an option that allows players to voluntarily decrease their Depth ranking by one level.
This feature provides relief for those who enjoy the unique builds and passives of the mode but don’t want the steep difficulty curve of higher Depths. It’s especially useful for players who want to keep the challenge balanced without resorting to intentional defeats.
New Quality-of-Life Improvements Coming Soon
From September 19 onward, players reaching Depth level 3 and beyond will receive demotion protection. One defeat at Depth 3 will no longer lower a rank, while Depths 4 and 5 grant protection for two defeats. Depth level 1 players who join higher-tier expeditions will also be safe from rank losses if defeated.
Steam users will additionally benefit from a new safeguard, ensuring that disconnects caused by server issues won’t remove them from the mode.
Community Reactions to the Update
The community has reacted positively to these planned improvements. Many fans praised the ability to reduce Depth levels, pointing out that it makes the game more flexible. Some enjoy testing unusual builds, while others prefer a moderate challenge rather than the extreme punishment of Depths 4 and 5.
Players also expect fewer instances of teammates deliberately failing runs to lower their rank, which previously frustrated co-op partners.
Bug Fixes and Next Patch Release
Alongside these updates, a fix for Depth rank progression errors will be included. This addresses a problem where some players weren’t receiving correct rank increases after victories. While a release date for the update hasn’t been revealed yet, FromSoftware has promised to share details soon.
