Call of Duty Black Ops 7 adds new security features TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot to combat PC cheaters

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is stepping up its fight against cheaters with a major security update. On PC, players will now be required to enable two important features: TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot. This change aims to enhance the effectiveness of the game’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system and ensure fair play across matches.

While the official release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 hasn’t been revealed yet, Activision has confirmed a global unveiling during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on August 19. It’s highly likely that the release date will be announced during this event, based on the series’ history of October or November launches.

TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot Explained

The new security measures are designed to tackle low-level cheats. TPM 2.0 offers hardware-based protection, while Secure Boot ensures that only trusted software runs during system startup. These features will work together with RICOCHET to make cheating much more difficult.

This will mark the first time a Call of Duty title requires both TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot at launch. Activision also plans to introduce these features retroactively in games like Warzone and Black Ops 6 with the Season 5 update. Unlike in previous titles where these were optional, they will be mandatory in Black Ops 7.

How This Impacts Players

Players will start seeing in-game alerts if their systems aren’t compatible with TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot. However, Activision promises these features won’t affect performance or gameplay experience. They will only be active during PC boot and remain inactive while playing.

Although some fans are concerned about system requirements, many are welcoming the extra layer of protection. It’s a clear sign that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is committed to fair gameplay.

Will Carry Forward Return?

There are rumors that the Carry Forward feature might return in Black Ops 7. This would allow players to bring items from Black Ops 6, but the community is divided. Some players enjoy continuing their progress, while others feel certain skins don’t match the tone of the new game.

Black Ops 7 Hype Already Building

Despite the extra security measures, hype for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is high. Fans have already spotted Monster Energy cans in stores featuring Black Ops 7 branding and QR codes for in-game rewards. While it’s still unclear what these rewards will be, it’s clear the marketing campaign has begun.

With all these updates, Activision is signalling that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will offer a more secure and polished experience than ever before.
