The official reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has quickly crossed an unfortunate milestone, gathering close to 400,000 dislikes in less than a week. Despite the franchise’s dominance as one of the best-selling series in gaming history, it seems fans are increasingly frustrated with Activision and are using this trailer as a way to express their dissatisfaction.

A Closer Look at the Black Ops 7 Reveal

After a cryptic teaser in June, Activision revealed Black Ops 7 at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The trailer showcased the long-awaited sequel to Black Ops 2. It also confirmed the return of David Mason and Raul Menendez.

Set in the year 2035—ten years after Black Ops 2—the game promises semi-futuristic elements across its Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes, offering a familiar yet modern twist for longtime fans.

Fans React With Heavy Dislikes

Unfortunately, the community reception has been overwhelmingly negative. According to YouTube dislike counter extensions, the trailer has already surpassed 385,000 dislikes compared to just 54,000 likes. While these numbers may not be 100% precise, the gap is large enough to confirm that fan sentiment is far from positive.

Interestingly, many players have commented that the trailer pushed them toward pre-ordering Battlefield 6 instead. This shift in sentiment could prove beneficial to EA’s upcoming shooter, which has been praised heavily during its open beta.

Activision’s Response and the Battlefield Factor

Reports suggest that Activision executives are not overly worried, claiming that Call of Duty is “too big to fail.” However, the growing frustration around microtransactions, bugs, unrealistic skins, and underwhelming updates cannot be ignored.

Meanwhile, Battlefield 6 appears to be thriving. Its open beta broke franchise records and pre-orders on the PlayStation Store. It is currently place in both the Standard and Phantom editions of Battlefield 6. This trend hints that many players truly are switching sides this year.
