EA Clarifies Battlefield 6 Crossplay Rules

Battlefield 6 soldiers in crossplay multiplayer battle

EA has confirmed how Battlefield 6 crossplay will function when the game launches on October 10. The clarification comes after confusion over whether PlayStation and Xbox players could still play together with crossplay disabled.

How Crossplay Really Works

Turning off crossplay in Battlefield 6 will now limit matchmaking to the same platform only. For example, PlayStation 5 players will only face other PlayStation 5 users. The same rule applies to Xbox Series X/S. This contradicts an earlier statement suggesting that PlayStation and Xbox players could match up without PC users.

When crossplay is enabled, console players will still be prioritized to match with each other before PC players fill the remaining slots. This ensures balanced lobbies while still keeping PC as an option.

Why Battlefield 6 Crossplay Matters

Crossplay is often a divisive feature in competitive shooters. PC players typically benefit from higher frame rates, keyboard and mouse setups, and the risk of cheats. Console players, on the other hand, prefer a level playing field. EA is trying to balance this by giving players the option to turn crossplay off while still keeping matchmaking smooth.

Battlefield 6 Launch and Future Plans

Battlefield 6 arrives on October 10 with its large-scale multiplayer experience. EA and Ripple Effect are also working on anti-cheat measures to improve gameplay. Rumors suggest that Battlefield 6 could eventually include a standalone battle royale mode, though details remain unconfirmed.

By clarifying Battlefield 6 crossplay rules, EA aims to set clear expectations for players ahead of launch. Fans can now prepare knowing exactly how matchmaking will work across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
