Rockstar May Let a Terminally Ill Fan Play GTA 6 Early
GTA 6 Early Access Story Gains Attention
Rockstar Games may be offering a terminally ill fan a rare chance to play Grand Theft Auto 6 ahead of its official release. The story has quickly gained attention across the gaming community. GTA 6 stands as one of the most anticipated video games ever. Rockstar officially confirmed the game in 2022. The first trailer arrived in December 2023 and broke YouTube records within hours.
GTA 6 Has Faced Multiple Delays
Rockstar originally targeted a 2025 release window. The studio later delayed GTA 6 to May 2026. Following internal layoffs and employee protests, Rockstar pushed the release again. GTA 6 is now scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. Despite the delays, anticipation for the game remains extremely high.
LinkedIn Post Sparked the Story
The situation came to light through LinkedIn posts by Ubisoft Toronto employee Anthony Armstrong. He shared that a close family member was battling cancer and had only 6 to 12 months to live. Armstrong described the family member as a lifelong GTA fan. He reached out publicly to Rockstar employees, asking whether an early playtest could be arranged under a non-disclosure agreement.
Rockstar and Take-Two Reportedly Responded
Later updates from Armstrong suggested progress. He stated that he had been contacted by the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company. Another update mentioned “great news” from the Rockstar team. Shortly after, the posts were removed from LinkedIn. Portions of the messages remain visible through cached search results. The deletion strongly suggests that Rockstar agreed to the request.
Rockstar Has Done This Before
This would not be the first time Rockstar extended such an opportunity. In the past, the studio allowed a terminally ill fan to play Red Dead Redemption 2 before launch. Other developers have taken similar actions. Gearbox previously allowed a fan to play Borderlands 4 nearly a year early. These gestures often receive widespread praise across the gaming community.
A Positive Moment for Rockstar
The story arrives during a challenging period for Rockstar. The studio faced backlash following layoffs and internal disputes. Even the UK Prime Minister commented on the situation. Rumors of another GTA 6 delay have also circulated, though Rockstar has not confirmed any changes to the current release date. This moment provides a rare feel-good narrative amid controversy.
GTA 6 Is Reshaping the Industry
GTA 6’s impact reaches far beyond Rockstar. Many developers have adjusted their release schedules to avoid competing with its launch. Sony reportedly treats GTA 6 almost like a PS5-exclusive release when planning its own titles. Smaller studios have also delayed projects to avoid launching near Rockstar’s juggernaut.
GTA 6 Early Access Shows a Human Side
If confirmed, this GTA 6 early access opportunity highlights a compassionate side of the industry. It reminds players that gaming extends beyond sales and schedules.
As GTA 6’s launch approaches, moments like this reinforce why the franchise means so much to millions of fans worldwide.

I can’t imagine what it must feel like to be in that position, with so little time left to experience something you’ve been excited about for years. If Rockstar follows through, it could truly be a life-changing experience for that fan.
