Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Performance Patch Coming Soon, Says Developer
The developer of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has responded to early criticism surrounding the game’s performance and launch bugs. Despite hitting 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, fans voiced frustration over technical issues and pricing inconsistencies across regions.
Launch Troubles and Pre-Order Reward Issues
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers launched on July 24 with high expectations after its strong showing during the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase. The game’s unique madness mechanic and Soulslike combat earned praise. However, many players reported frame drops, stutters, and trouble claiming pre-order rewards.
Some also flagged incorrect pricing in certain countries. These issues led to growing discontent, especially on PC, where the game was labeled “another unstable Unreal Engine 5 title” by some users.
Developer’s Statement and Upcoming Patch
In a new statement on Steam, Leenzee Games and 505 Games addressed the backlash. They confirmed a patch is in development to improve performance and fix reward claim bugs. A timeline for the patch release wasn’t shared.
To show goodwill, all Steam buyers will get a free digital copy of the soundtrack. Deluxe Edition owners will also receive an exclusive costume in a future update.
The studio is also working to fix regional pricing errors that impacted players at launch.
Xbox Game Pass and Growing Soulslike Competition
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is available day one for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The game joins a strong 2025 lineup, with Grounded 2 arriving July 29 and Gears of War: Reloaded releasing August 26.
Meanwhile, Soulslike fans have been treated to major releases this year. Lies of P’s DLC, The First Berserker: Khazan, and Elden Ring Nightreign continue to dominate the genre.
More Soulslikes Are on the Way
At Summer Game Fest 2025, two major sequels were revealed: Code Vein 2 and Mortal Shell 2. While release dates are unknown, fans are already hyped.
Despite the rocky launch, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers could still redeem itself. If the upcoming patch fixes performance issues, it may earn its place among 2025’s best action RPGs.
